Sobo
Sobo – Hand-Forged by Sergey Petrov
This knife is hand-forged by master blacksmith Sergey Petrov, using a trusted D2 steel analogue, widely favored by hunters and anglers for its toughness, edge retention, and reliability in the wild. True to tradition, the blade features the iconic Sakha groove, sharpened on one side and polished on the other, a design born of generations of refinement for daily use, survival in the taiga, and precision work in the workshop.
The handle is crafted from birch cap, chosen for its strength and beautiful grain. It is paired with naturally shed moose antler, collected in spring — prized for its resilience and suitability in fine carving.
The antler is intricately engraved with the image of Sobo, the lake carp that has long sustained Sakha communities through harsh winters. Vegetation motifs are delicately depicted on the guard, further tying the piece to the region's landscape and history.
The sheath is made from bull’s tail leather, following techniques preserved over hundreds of years. It’s wrapped around a birch wood liner, sourced from trees naturally dried by time, flood, and storm — a respectful nod to the land’s rhythm. A genuine leather loop allows for secure belt carry.
On the base of the handle, you'll find the manufacturer’s mark, a subtle stamp of authenticity on a knife that embodies the craft, spirit, and sustenance of the North.
